These reviews are my perspective as an independent retirement plan advisor who works with plans from a variety of recordkeepers and regularly reviews plans I don’t manage.
I’m not trying to declare one provider “the best.” There isn’t one.
Some providers are excellent for startups and very small businesses but become expensive as assets grow. Others have tremendous capabilities but may be more complicated than a 20-person company needs. Some offer inexpensive, stripped-down service. Others bundle payroll, recordkeeping, administration and investments into one ecosystem.
And sometimes a provider that looks great on paper simply isn’t particularly pleasant to work with.
My goal with these reviews is to tell you where I think each provider works, where I think it doesn’t, and what I would look at before deciding whether to stay, switch or sign up.
